Thankfully not me!!! But sadly ’tis the case for my dear friend
Away on a big adventure for a few weeks, the poor love broke her wrist just days into her trip! To add to it all, her birthday occurred while she was away! So upon her return, it was SO LOVELY to catch up. On the up side, her broken bone gave me a cute idea for her birthday gift…….
The poor little cute fairy has her arm in a ‘cast’ too! Hehe. After I took this pic, my DH suggested I ‘signed’ the cast……so I wrote the name of the place my friend ‘holidayed at’ and the year, 2010
My friend has a fab sense of humour so found this little fairy funny *phew*
I had fun colouring in this little princess with my markers. When I’m in the right mood
I find colouring quite relaxing and am thankful for outline stamps as seriously, I can’t draw to save my life! The satin ribbon is just so elegant and although you cannot tell from this pic, it is a vanilla colour on the reverse side. Sadly this gorgeous ribbon will only be with us for another 12 days as it’s part of the “Last Chance” babies, only available until the end of this month. This is also true of the Kiwi Kiss Colour I’ve used. Going! AND the Designer Series Paper I’ve used. Going! Truly happy/sad as fabo products leave but FAB-O NEW products arrive……….it’s an emotional roller coaster I tell you!
Click HERE if you’d like to order up on product as some stamp and colour stocks have all but run out!
Would you like to have your own copy of the NEW Stampin’ Up! 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue?? I’m expecting a shipment any day now and I’d love to get you yours ASAP! In my previous post, which you can squizzy at HERE, I shared a Soccer Themed Card that I had made for my nephews birthday. Seeing as his birthday is the day before his mum’s (my sis-in-law), I made her a card as well (of course!)…..with no moving parts this time! Lol! As usual, there is a silly story behind this one as well.
Once upon a time (because that’s how all good stories start) I found this fun tutorial on how to make a Punch Art Flower using your Large Oval Punch and Pop Up Glue Dots. The only problem is I can’t find it again! Usually I’m a clever little sausage and bookmark things that grab my attention……this was obviously in my early days of blog surfing, doh! So this little flower is not my original idea but SO SO easy to do and if you DO happen to come across the tutorial and the clever crafty sister who shared her amazingness with us all, PLEASE TELL ME!!!
I knew I wanted to do this flower on this particular card but once I had thought long and hard, I didn’t trust that it wouldn’t get squashed in the travel process as well as the “after storage” process (as I am told my cards get kept…….nawwwwww) Think, think, think……..*lightbulb moment!*
~ Box Card! ~
Now that lit’l flower is safe and sound for as long as the box is……however it could’ve been a case for the “Wet Paint” sign to have it’s own “Wet Paint” sign and so on and so forth
Here’s the ‘card’ part…..
I’ve used a clear plastic sheet to create a window to look into the box. I know I don’t say much about cutters but for this particular project, I love love my Stampin’ Up! Cutter! I was able to work out how far in I wanted my window to start on the front piece of cardstock and how big I wanted it, then with my cutter, start at a few centimetres in from the edge of the cardstock and cut the length of the window. The measurements on the cutting ruler are just fantastic! No fiddly rulers and stanley knives, just simple. (Stanley and I aren’t the best of friends) On top of cutting what I needed to, I was then able to easily switch blades and score lines for my boxes with accuracy using the ruler markings across the top and down the side. Such a time saver!
There’s probably a couple of ways you could create this project. I created two half boxes and slipped one inside the other. For the card part I created a short fold flap on the edge of the card that slipped down the side of the joined boxes and stuck that in with an adhesive. The flower is created by punching out multiple Large Oval Shapes and joining them to a stack of Pop Up Glue Dots. The dots are then covered by an accessory – I’ve chosen a flower from the Filigree Brads set and finished it off with a Circle Fire Rhinestone Brad.
I think my sister-in-law liked it????
I hope you enjoyed this one too!

*phew* What a weekend!! Doll’s Houses, Workshops, Birthday Parties aaaaaaaand LAST CHANCE LISTS!!! *eeeep!* I’m feeling a little pooped! However, I still wanted to post the card I made for my nephew – it was a very fun one to make and slightly challenging! Ever had a fab idea and gotten stuck into it to realise half way through you have NOOOOOOOO idea what you’re doing? Yup. That’s me all over, lol!
You see, my nephew is a hard core soccer nut and plays brilliantly *insert bias aunty here*
so the theme of the card was easy, soccer of course! Except……..well, I wanted the ball to move, didn’t I??
“What a brilliant idea!” Ju thought. “Make a card with moving parts!”
Well, would you believe it? It actually worked!
AND I got to add those giggly googly eyes again *hehehehehe……sigh*
As you can see Number EIGHT is kicking the soccer ball which is just uncanny, as my nephew was turning EIGHT *lol* I was very excited when it dawned on me to use my Horizontal Punch (one of many retiring products *sniff*) for Number Eight’s soccer boots because you know, I just can’t draw to save my life. Check out those “grass tufts” and the poor guys arms and hands, yeesh!
What’s more, the ball ‘thrusts’ out a lovely sentiment in flight, but not too mushy (I hope)
Thanks for sailing by, catch you soon!
Ju *hugs*
