Where’d my baby go?!

When you make an invitation for an almost 5 year old’s birthday, I guess you have to expect that that almost 5 year old is inevitably going to, well, turn 5! Sadly, my baby didn’t change the trend and turn 5 she did :( :D I still shake my head at the fact that I have a 5 year old!! At kindy on a child’s birthday, all the children receive a lollipop or something like that and well, I couldn’t just give out lollies now could I, hehe. It’s all in the presentation…….teehee.

I made 30 of these boxes and it wasn’t because I had too much spare time on my hands either, lol. Did you know that there is a 1 and 2am?? :D I had alot of fun doing this for my little princess xx

I also wanted to make my little, err not so little princess a special birthday card and was racking my brain for ages until I remembered that I had seen a cute and different card design on Makeesha Byl’s website. The funny and challenging moment was trying to work it out with the birthday girl hovering……“What are you doing mummy? What is that mummy?” Yes yes I know, I should’ve done it at night but those nights were dedicated to boxes, lol! I averted a reveal and managed to shift her focus long enough to finish her card and then hide it until it was time. The sneakyness of a mummy hey? :D

I like that it’s different and cute and want to thank Makeesha for her fantastic step by step tutorial. To find out how to make this cute Pyramid Card you can see in on Makeesha’s blog here.

Adding depth

So here’s a card with a difference! I have recently discovered a world of 3D and am absolutely looooooving it!! Something different from a normal card yet still incorporating some ever soothing stamping, colouring and of course…..bah-liiiing! *chortle chortle* Stampin’ Up! set me a challenge and I accepted!!……then turned to Diana Gibbs to show me how, lol! :D

I am having quite a bit of fun with this chef set, “Voila” of late. It’s alot of fun to be able to change what the chef holds on his plate. It seems to get a bit of a giggle too! The Chef image inspired the colours – all I could think was a French Chef! (ah Madame would be so proud of me, lol) Using my bold bright markers and aqua pens I watercoloured the chef and his tray cover. The tray cover made for cute accents on the Basic Black card for the middle panel. The balloons are from the “Big Bold Birthday” stamp set and I have stamped them in Real Red and Brilliant Blue ink then using the matching Bold Bright markers I have added those little accents……you know, to make the balloons appear more round and reflective…..?? Lol!

I have recently had the pleasure of welcoming a past school friend into the clutches uh, arms (hehehe) of all things stamping, LOL!! *waving to you Mandy!!* Mandy has brought a mommoth proportion of creativity into the world and we had our first “creative session” where we both created one of the diorama cards. Mandy’s of course seemed to come together in no time where as my creativity needs a firm shove to get going sometimes! Mandy’s creation is the Big Bold Birthday one on the right……

How cute is this card?!?!? I love that instead of using markers to create the balloon string, Mandy used the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter – so pretty!! So following this creative session, when my other Stampin’ buddy Jules and I were given one week (eeeps!) to prepare for the local Gawler Soccer Club Fundraiser *hello ladies!!*, along with my chef cards I was inspired, by Mandy, to create…….

…..which then flowed on to recreate my “Heartfelt Thanks” card…… (I think I prefer my second ‘batch’ of colours for this particular card – Mellow Moss, Almost Amethyst & Blush Blossom)
