Card making across the generations!

This was such a fun post to create! As promised I came back to show you some cards my Little Miss 3 received for her birthday. As I was collating all the handmade cards she had received I realised that Little Miss had received a handmade card from her Big Sister, her mummy and her GREAT-Nanna……that’s card-making across FOUR generations!! (even if it did skip a generation, lol) How gorgeous is that?!? Well, now you know where I got my itch for the creative from then…….
The added gorgeousness about this card is that whilst my Nanna created the outside, my Poppa always chips in with some form of rhyming genius for the card’s ‘innards’
It really is a fabulous team effort!
During the day there was a rather cute moment as Little Miss 3 & Big Sister sat side by side at the table making each other cards in preparation for the celebration later that night. Big Sister was creating a birthday card for Little Miss and Little Miss was creating a Thank You for her Big Sister in appreciation of the birthday card
*giggles* Precious!
~ Big Sister’s Birthday Card for Little Miss ~
I forgot to take a photo of the back as my “Big” girl even went to the trouble of decorating the back as gorgeously as she did for the front! I just love her use of colours!
I have a drawer that is full of cut offs, punched shapes, stamped images (coloured & not) etc. that I may have begun with for some project but then found they weren’t working or I didn’t need them in the end. The girls absolutely LOVE IT when they hear me sigh or “darn it” or “nope” out loud…….they know that means more treasure for the “treasure box”!
…..and here’s the Thank You from Little Miss…….
Don’t you just love the layering?
Just so cute how my “ooopsies” are like gold to my girls, hehe.
There is also one very creative little friend who ALWAYS gives each of us a handmade masterpiece on our birthdays. This year I think “Mr. Creative” out did himself! Check out the bling!!!!!!
With all this talent my card seems to pale into insignificance! Little Miss got her first proper bike – pink! - with training wheels for her birthday from daddy, mummy and Big Sister (oh and Big Sister also gave her a hula-hoop!) so I wanted to make a card that tied in with the gift……..
Sorry it’s a little fuzzy but you can still see the bike although it’s a bit hard to see the Regal Rose cardstock behind the bike – I’ve crimped it for a bit of texture.
Do you like the tassles? A gorgeous friend of mine was here when I was putting this together and it was her that suggested the tassles *waving to you Eb!* Little Miss’ bike has both tassles and a basket so this stamp from the retired, “Time For You” stamp set was just perfect! When it came to opening the card though, the 3 year old couldn’t care less…..that’s alright, I’ll pop it in her keepsake box so she can read it when she’s my age! LOL!
I was very excited when I realised that I can now co-ordinate buttons with any project thanks to my Big Shot! On the one die there are four different styles of buttons to choose from. Now I don’t need to worry whether I have buttons in the right hue or size to match my projects as I can just cut them out myself, yay!
What’ s even better is that I will always have “thread” that will match and co-ordinate too……I’ve just used a very thin slither of cardstock for both the tassles and the “button thread”. As it is so thin it’s so easy to thread. Just perfect!
Like I said, my card seems abit “meh” compared to the generational masterpieces, hehe, but thanks for looking!
Ju *hugs*

Oh ok, so I am slightly bias perhaps…….hehe, but it was an absolutely gorgeous day on Sunday! We took our little ones to the Royal Adelaide Show for the first time……and my first time in, ahem, 12 years?? *eeep* Dave, my adorably splendid husband, grew up going to the show with his family so it was history in the making when ALL of the Pollitts and their spouses went together. My mother in law had a precious moment as she looked at me and gushingly said, “Now my son is bringing his children.” I think she absolutely soaked up the specialness of being there to see that *happy sigh*
We made a HUGE day of it getting there before lunch and not leaving til after the 9pm fireworks! But it was a lovely quiet drive on the way home back to our homely town of Gawler and Dave & I got to have a lovely chat all the way back as the girls zonked it rather fast after leaving Adelaide! Plus we got to finally sneak in a choccy or three but we had to do the paper crackle test first to see if the girls really were asleep*chortle* Once you could crackle the choccy paper without the girls moving you knew you could now savour those delicious little morsels, hehe. Ah the planning that goes into it………
Anyways…..sadly our little point and shoot camera fizzled before Sunday so we are waiting with great anticipation for the endless piccies that my faithful trigger happy sister in law Tricia couldn’t help herself but take
I shall post a couple when we get them. (oh side note: my husband is back into his photography now as well as my brother in law being a photographer but their ‘toys’ – aka camera gear - were just wayyyyyy too massive to cart around all day! Plus, we needed to leave room for the important things, like SHOWBAGS! Yippeeeeee! LOL!)
However! What I do have is a photo of the beautiful handmade card that Kailee made for her daddy at kindy. I think it is such a simple and clever idea that I want to do my own version! Lol! Daddy even scored a foam dinosaur on his card! Now that is super special! (when you hear Kailee describe it, that is the exact impression you get, lol!)

A little shirt and tie! Nawwwwww! I can’t remember the last time I saw Dave in a shirt and tie, lol!
Even though Dave is my husband I still love to make him a card for Father’s Day. It’s just my little way of thanking him for being the most incredible daddy for our girls. Yes I know. Gooey stuff
So here is my handmade card (hehe)….

I must admit that I really like this In Colour combo! It was kind of accidental as I had no intention of using the Kiwi Kiss but wah-la, it just went and popped right in there, lol! I also made a deliberate decision to not colour us girls in as I felt it would get a bit too busy. The ‘All in the Family’ stamp set is such a fun one to use although, the last time I did a family portrait, my girls had different ‘heads’ as my youngest had a lot less hair and so the ‘scruffy head’ suited her better, teehee. Well now both my girls have longer flowing locks so I had the tricky task of trying to create both of them, without colour but so that they still looked different. Well, I must have succeeded as when Dave asked my youngest who each of the ‘people’ were on the card……she guessed them as I had stamped them without prompting!! YAY!! Yes, there was an inner woohoo moment from me too, haha!

The stack of hearts is a stamp from the ‘Loads Of Love’ stamp set, as is the “Loads of Love” saying. As you can see (well I hope anyways…..did I mention my husband is the photographer not me? Lol!) I have raised the middle stack of hearts as well as the saying. The saying has been stamped onto Kiwi Kiss card stock, punched out using the 1-1/4″ circle punch and then layered on Pacific Point c/s which has been punched using the 1-3/8″ circle punch. These two circle punches really do look lovely layered together!
I have done the same punching style with ‘us girls’ which I found quite cute as the 1-1/4″ circle punch frames us really nicely and ‘hugs’ Chloe beautifully! (Chloe is my youngest so the one where you can see her feet, hehe)
Finally the hearts you can see is actually the heart stamp from the ‘Short and Sweet’ stamp set. I have stamped the heart randomly on Whisper White using the Kiwi Kiss ink.
I’m wondering if maybe more stacks of hearts next time so there isn’t so much white between them? Just nervous of overkill, know what I mean?

I love how this stampin’ world has brought so many gorgeous sweeties into my life! A group of mummies now meet fairly regularly to have our own crafty nights……cuppas, chocolate, cheese & biccies (luurrrrve them biccies!
) oh and thrown in there a bit of stamping. This last catch up was a rather cute one as my friend let her 5 year old stay up and be part of the fun. If I was 5, there would’ve been NO WAY I would’ve gone to sleep either!! Way too much fun and giggles were being had!! So during the night Miss 5 and I had a few card swaps of our own (you should see her set up!! It’s fantastic! *note to self – IKEA* hehe) Miss 5 then very cleverly incorporated one of our card swaps into a very cute card for me!! I promised her that it would find its way to my site. So…….Ladies and gentlemen, it is a pleasure that I present to you……

I thought it was a rather cute way to kick off my blogging to show that scrappin’/card making is for all ages! Ok so the tools may be slightly altered for age purposes, lol, but awwwwwww!
This first card was hand crafted by my very own 4 year old DD (dear daughter) – especially for her grandpa

I personally like the way nature is displayed as well as a perfect amount of bling to make the card sparkle!
Then for our birthdays this year, my husband and I had a combined celebration (see the invites here) . We discoverd that friends of ours have 2 very creative little ones! Look at what a 3 year old and an 8 month old created!! (hehe)

Very clever don’t you think? I particularly like the mallet on the front, hehehe
