…..and these are my Birthday eyes….

Last Updated on Sunday, 26 June 2011 05:50 Written by Ju Sunday, 26 June 2011 05:50 1 Comment

Phew! Been a busy time and this is one of those other posts I’ve come back and forth from, trying to finish for like a kazillion times!! Lol! So….lovely to see you again!! :D

Ok now, put your hand up if you LOOOOOOVE Toy Story?!?!?! Come on now, don’t be shy. We’re all friends here! I will be the first to admit that perhaps, perrrrrrhaps, my eyes may have turned slightly glassy whilst watching the Toy Story finale. Oh what a movie! I felt like I had watched Andy grow up. Gosh he grew up fast………….

*ahem* Right then……

One of my wee little nieces had a second birthday recently and as the over excited aunty I made her invites and of course, there was no question of then making her birthday card. There was quite alot of invitations needed so they were basic to a degree so meh, won’t bother posting them BUT! I couldn’t WAIT to show you the card!!!!! :D

MR POTATOE HEAD!!!!!!!!

How CUUUTE is HE?!

I’m not even going to BEGIN the task of listing all the punches etc that I used HOWEVER! Do not fret dear crafters for I can tell you that –>HERE<– is where I got this fabulous design from! As you can see, Lynn Pratt of Stamp-n-Design is just AMAZING!!! & her Potatoe Head family are far more detailed than mine…..but I still like mine :D Seriously though! Look at all the 3D projects she has on offer and at such fabuloso prices! I am in awe of crafters who are able to think about crafting in 3D and then make it happen! Thanks Lynn!!

Here’s the inside of my card….

I cut another same shaped panel as the front so I could hide where all the Mr Potatoe Head parts were joined to the inside of the card.

I did have to rescue the card from the 2 year old birthday girl as, being such a fan of Toy Story, she believed that these particular Mr Potatoe Head parts were indeed detachable like the real Mr Potatoe Head. Clearly, this was not the case :O (Such an odd scene to see a crafter hovering over the recipient of her work to ensure the safety of said craft)

The party was gorgeous and my niece had some surprise visitors….

Took a bit for the kids to stop hiding behind the adults legs as these heroes were actually quite huge! But then it was on! These guys (this particular Woody & Buzz’s alter egoes) are friends of my sister’s family and take these costumes out on the Variety Bashes. Such a fantastic cause!

Finally, check out this cake! My nieces parents sure like to do outdo themselves!

Andy’s bed!! When I dropped by the night before the party, those bed ends were just a rectangle piece of card – these were certainly a labour of love by my brother-in-law!

Thanks again for popping by! I’ve recently purchased a very fun 3D template from Lynn and I really hope I don’t boog it up so I can show you real soon!!

Wrapping it up!

Last Updated on Tuesday, 14 June 2011 07:39 Written by Ju Tuesday, 14 June 2011 07:37 0 Comments

It is a fabulous moment when an idea comes to me quickly and then is executed just as fast. Oh and, Mr Big Shot, well he’s my hero!

A gorgeous friend recently celebrated a milestone birthday with a polkadot themed party. As a guest we were encouraged to come dressed in something polkadot-ish. I was rather excited to finally pull out a flowy top that up until that moment, had no idea when I was going to wear it!

Being a polkadot themed do, I simply had to keep the gift, card and wrapping within the theme so was a wee bit excited when I came across some polkadot styled wrapping paper……which led to the idea of then using the wrapping paper for the card as well!

If you squint, you can see that I’ve also incorporated some polka dot ribbon. Then using my 1-3/4″ circle punch, otherwise known as the “Extra Large Circle Punch” I stamped a sentiment from a Stampin’ Up! set, “Afterthoughts” which is a Level 1 Hostess Set (can’t remember when I earnt that but Yay me!) There is a little sentence that is part of this stamp. Underneath it usually says, “(call me when it’s time for cake)” – I didn’t want that bit so just inked up the “Happy Birthday” bit instead.

So all I’ve done is cut two Top Notes in Gable Green (retired colour) using my Mr Big Shot and SU’s Top Note Die, then I’ve cut two Top Notes using the wrapping paper and cut just inside the perferations to make them smaller than the Gable Green Top Notes.

See those gorgeous jumbo white brads? Another delicious item on Stampin’ Up!’s menu – I’ve used them to hold the Top Notes together. I also scored a fold line front and back to make the opening of the card cleaner (Btw, I do remember that I’m not an SU demo any more but I still enjoy a good craft ‘meal’ when I see one, hehe)

This design had to carry on to the back….

…..and in this pic you can see the pressie all wrapped in matching paper and ribbon. Co-ordination is a go!

It would’ve have been a crime to not make this lady a card as she is an SU demo herself, knew that I was one and would be expecting no less from all her crafting friends, hehe. Thankfully she liked it!

Oh and her gift?

A large polka~dotted umbrella! :D

Just Clownin’ Around

Last Updated on Thursday, 9 June 2011 11:24 Written by Ju Thursday, 9 June 2011 11:21 0 Comments

I know a beautiful lady whose having to recover from some major back issues. A while back we were nattering and it was mentioned that she’d probably have to go into hospital. I promised her that if she did, I’d visit her………….

This was my gift to her…..

Some balloon roses…….complete with their own balloon ‘vase’……

For a final touch I added a bow……a balloon one of course

This vase of balloon roses did take me awhile! Had a few casualties ~ I think from memory I lost one ‘petal’ on the way to the hospital but the funniest story was what my friend told me after she returned home from the hospital!

She popped this ‘vase’ (no pun intended) next to her bed as they were still inflated quite nicely. One night however, there was a weird noise that woke my friend up. Each time she tried to drift back to sleep she’d hear the noise again – it was freaking her out!! After a few minutes of being awake with the light on, she heard the noise AGAIN! But THIS time the weird noise revealed itself………it was the balloons, deflating one section at a time with a sharp, short hiss! TOO FUNNY!!

I’d just now like to take a moment to express how amazing my husband is for coming with me to visit our dear friend. Not only did he take these piccies for me but he drove us both there……………..

…………………..with me looking like this…………………..

Do you know how funny it is to be in public, driving in traffic???? We had such a giggle (as did my father-in-law when he saw me for the first time as a clown……I mean he always knew I was………hehe) Cars drive past then slow down just to double check that they saw what they thought they saw :D

My friend’s reaction was just gorgeous as she was mid-doze when we walked into her room. Watching her trying to work out what was going on was hilarious! We giggled for aaaages about it after – even the nursing staff got a giggle and a photo with me after my friend insisted we all huddled together, hehe. It was very fun!

I now just want to take a quick moment to thank and plug a gorgeous business run by two mums that I know…..Peta & Jacqui own Face The Art Facepainting and let me borrow this clown outfit for this occasion. I have had the amazing opportunity to work for these girls……as a clown, but also as a balloon twister at private and corporate events. These girls have recently revamped their website adding new features to what they can offer you for your next private party or corporate event.

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing this clown actually dressed up as one! See you again soon x

Supporting Handmade!

Last Updated on Monday, 6 June 2011 01:58 Written by Ju Monday, 6 June 2011 01:58 0 Comments

I must admit that I’m a bit of sucker for handmade products. I think there’s something about knowing that time has been taken to learn about and create the product. Alot of the time, I am prepared to pay more for handmade, lovingly created products over mass produced items. It’s like the product holds that extra bit of, um…….. “Nawwwwww-ness” because of the story behind it. Don’t get me wrong! I do love those shopping trips where you oooh and ahhhh and walk away with less money than you intended to part with ;) But still, there’s something about handmade……..

I am in awe of all those gorgeous and amazing creative people out there and I am com-PUH-leeetely blessed to have some precious creative friends who shower me with their amazingness ….. just coz!

So being a fan of handmade, I was super excited to come across a fabulous site that offers all those hard working creators a chance to advertise and sell their wares and all those eager buyers of handmade (like moi!) a chance to go nuts……all from the comfort of your own home.

Want to see more?? Of course you do! Go check out “Crafty Mumma’s” web page and check out their Facebook page >>HERE<< ………but before you do!!!!! Go to the loo FIRST then make a cuppa before you begin browsing as there are SO SO SO many amazing businesses from craft, to clothing, to accessories to FOOD! It may be awhile before you can tear yourself away.

Puppy love

Last Updated on Monday, 6 June 2011 01:36 Written by Ju Monday, 6 June 2011 01:35 0 Comments

I’d never considered a sympathy card when it came to losing a pet. I’ve been known to make a Mother’s Day card from a puppy to it’s ‘mummy’ (aka owner)……so when I was asked to make a sympathy card for someone who’d lost their pet, I was a bit intimidated for a minute. However, when I actually sat and took the time to think about it, and not owning any animal stamps, I was relieved when this idea came to me….

Image © Jujybean Creations

Thankfully the lovely lady asking for the card for her friend was happy too.

To make the paw I’ve simply used my Large Oval Punch and 1/2″ Circle Punch and then sponged the edges to soften the shapes. I’ve mounted the ‘paw’ using dimensional foam.

Again, sorry for the image quality – the colour combo is Very Vanilla and Soft Suede finished off with Stampin’ Up!’s Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, Eyelet Border punch and 5/8″ Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon.

Lovely to see you again x
